2205 stainless steel, also known as UNS S32205 or duplex stainless steel, is the most popular and widely used grade of duplex stainless steel. Its main characteristic is high yield strength, double that of the standard austenitic stainless steel grades.

Duplex 2205 stainless steel demonstrates good fatigue strength, as well as outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking, crevice, pitting, erosion, and general corrosion in severe environments. Due to containing 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5 to 6% nickel, it is ideally suited for high-pressure and highly corrosive environments.
